Short version:

I'm interested in studying semantics by using corpora and statistics.

There is more information about my research in publications.

Long version:

Since November 2012, I'm a postdoctoral researcher at Gjøvik University College in Norway. I'm working on INFUSE Eurostars research project, led by the Norwegian company Scan4news. My role in this project is to work on the semantic modelling and design of an ontology that represents the domain of funding.

During the course of this project I have also become interested in the development of computational resources for the Norwegian language. In particular, I have been working on the development of an open source part-of-speech tagger for Norwegian. This resource is already part of the open source language analysis tool suite Freeling. I have presented a paper about this at LREC.

Before coming here, I was a Ph.D. candidate and Associate Lecturer in Linguistics at Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona. At this university I wrote my thesis Tracing the development of Spanish participial constructions: An empirical study of semantic change, under the supervision of Josep Maria Fontana, Stefan Evert and José Luis Mendívil.

During this period I also worked on the development of the first part-of-speech tagger for Old Spanish, by adapting an existing language analyser for standard Spanish to deal with this old language variety. The tool can be downloaded here. If you want to cite this work, please refer to Sánchez Marco et al. (2011).
