Dr. Tan is currently a Professor in Information Security with NISlab, Department of Computer Science and Media Technology, Gjovik University College, Norway. He received his B.Sc. (Honours) in Mathematics from the National University of Singapore in 1984, M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA in 1990 and 1992 respectively. Dr Tan joined Nanyang Technological University, Singapore in September 2000 as an assistant professor and an associate professor in January 2004. Prior to joining NTU, he worked in industry for more than twelve years in Information Security. Dr. Tan has more than sixteen years of working experience in cryptography, wireless communication security, network security and internet security. His working experiences include research, design and development of secure communication systems and secure information system, and projects management. His current research interests include cryptography, cryptanalysis, information security, wireless communication security and security engineering. Dr Tan was also a security consultant to a DigiSafe Pte Ltd, Singapore from January 2001 to July 2005. Furthermore, He was also a Director of the Centre for Information Security at NTU from 1 Apr 2003 to 31 Mar 2005.
